Continuous Float Monitoring (CFM)
To increase the application reliability of variable area flowmeters, KROHNE has implemented intelligent algorithms in their electronics: float blockages caused by dirt or pressure bumps as well as compressional vibrations from gas or intermittent flows are identified and signalled. With appropriate corrective measures in the application, measuring accuracy and the service life of the flowmeter can be optimized.

Continuous Float Monitoring (CFM) application diagnostics
CFM upgrades the existing electronic device diagnostics with float-specific application diagnostics. The new functions come as standard in all sensor electronics and, thanks to intelligent modularity, can also be retrofitted to existing devices by replacing the ESK4A sensor electronics in the field. They can be individually enabled and configured to the specific application by DTM or locally via the optional LCD/IO module.
Messages about the diagnostics functions via HART® 7 and the LCD/IO module can be classified from merely informative to device errors with failure current output in accordance with NE107.
Continuous Float Monitoring (CFM) identifies and signals:
Float blockages because of dirt or pressure bumps
Compressional vibrations of float in gas measurements
Pulsating flow during liquid measurements e.g. because of displacement pumps
Missing or incorrectly installed floats after maintenance
External, interfering magnetic DC fields
